Breakthrough Volunteer Updates

October 2014

Breakthrough's Annual Benefit Dinner is coming up on Friday, October 17th. It's a great way to learn more about Breakthrough, the impact they're having on the west side of Chicago, and how you can get involved. There are several folks from Soul City that are hosting tables this year, including me. I'd love for you to join us and sit at one of our tables. You can learn more and register online here.

We'll be kicking off a new Serving Group this month and hope you'll consider being a part of this transformational experience. There are only a few spots left to sign up. But don't worry, we'll offer it again in the Spring.

And don't forget - we usually have a 1x/month meal-serving opportunity on the 3rd Friday of the month at the Women's Facility. Because our October serve is the same night as the Benefit, we're canceling our serve so that all of our volunteers can participate in the Benefit. Our next meal serve is Friday, November 21st. If you'd like to volunteer for the meal serve on 11/21,click here to sign up! :)

FALL SERVING GROUP
Our Fall Serving Group is starting this week.

We're super excited for our fall session and really hope that you'll consider being a part of this transformational experience.

These are the dates for our Fall serving group:

Oct 9th - @ Men's Facility
Oct 16 - GROUP (@ Soul City)
Oct 23 - GROUP (@ Soul City)
Oct 30th - @ Women's Facility
Nov 6th - GROUP (@ Soul City)
Nov 13th - @ Men's Facility
Nov 20th - @ Men's Facility
Dec 4th- @ Men's Facility
Dec 11th- @ Men's Facility

If you can commit to making 6 of these meetings and would like to be a part of our group, please let me know right away. Also, the recommended donation is $50/person to help cover the cost of groceries (but don't let that keep you from joining - if that's too much, just shoot me a note).

The group starts this week and we have to cap it at a reasonable number, so don't wait! Email me at amanda.bratschie@gmail.com to sign up!

Can't make it this time? We'll open our serving group again in the Spring.

Don and I are hosting a table and would love for you to come join us. Coming to the Benefit is a great way to meet other Soul City folks that are involved at Breakthrough as well as learn about all the different opportunities to get involved at Breakthrough. It's always a wonderful and uplifting evening. I hope you can make it!

BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR

Breakthrough offers a "behind the scenes" tour of their facilities on the 1st Monday of every month - meet at 6:15 pm.

"Come learn about the dynamic history and vision of Breakthrough, meet some of the staff and preview our key programs. Experience a short tour through the neighborhood and discover how staff and volunteers are creating positive and supportive relationships which enrich the lives of both the volunteers and those within the community"
